He also plays cello in the school orchestra. She is currently a junior at Monte Vista High School in Danville, California.įifteen year-old ANDRE NGUYEN is a sophomore at Mission Viejo High School. She has received top prizes in numerous competitions, including the United States International Music Competition, East Bay Music Competition and the Young Artist Competition of the Etude Club of Berkeley. Amy has been enrolled in the Preparatory Division at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and during summers, has attended the International Institute for Young Musicians at the University of Kansas and the Southeastern Piano Festival. She has also participated in masterclasses with Anton Nel and Sasha Starcevic. Sixteen year-old AMY BAO began lessons at the age of five, and is a student of Annamarie and John McCarthy. It’s amazing what one can learn by watching others! There is no fee for contestants to audit and participate in the Master Classes. We encourage all contestants to audit them. Contestants who don’t advance into the files are strongly encouraged to perform in these valuable classes. The Waring also sponsors Master Classes with distinguished judges. Separate awards are given for both solo and concerto divisions. The Competition is held biennially (every other year) with the Junior and Intermediate Competitions scheduled for 20 and the Senior Competition scheduled for 20.Īll pianists must participate in the Solo and may participate in the Concerto competition.
